Covid forces The Weeknd's Hand - Gigs cancelled!

Music Megastar, The Weeknd on Monday announced the upcoming tour that had two stops in the Valley has been cancelled, teasing a stadium tour that would commence next summer instead.

“Due to constraints of arenas and the demand for more shows I want to do something bigger and special for you which requires stadiums,” a post on the Canadian singer’s website read.

The Weeknd was supposed to perform at Gila River Arena in August of 2020 as part of the After Hours Tour before it was rescheduled to March 22 of next year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while a date of April 24 was also set for the Footprint Center in Phoenix.

Tickets will be refunded automatically to the original method of payment and the singer said ticket holders would be given priority to buy tickets for the stadium shows when they go on sale.

New dates for the stadium tour, and whether a stop in the Valley would be included, have yet to be announced.

The Weeknd, a three-time Grammy-award winning artist, was the featured singer of the most recent Super Bowl that was located in Tampa Bay, Florida.
